How to correct or Update Aadhar Details online & offline
If you need to make any corrections in your Aadhaar Card or Update Aadhar Details whether it is Name, Address, Mobile number or Date of birth, it is very easy to do the same & below is given convenient way to solve this problem that most of us are facing.

How to Change Name, Address in Aadhaar Card (Update Aadhar Details):
Aadhaar is now necessary in various scheme like Government & Non-Government Services, Subsidy Benefits, Pensions, Scholarships or Social Benefits, Banking, Insurance or Taxation services, Education or Employment, Healthcare etc., makes it necessary to ensure that Aadhaar data of resident stored in CIDR is correct and up-to-date. Spelling errors or any other mistakes in your Aadhaar Card or if anyone are having deactivated Aadhaar can to lead to many problems. Linking Aadhaar and PAN, which is mandatory for many services and requires that all your demographic details match on both the documents. If there is a mismatch in your details like name, gender, date of birth on both documents then you may be not be able to link the two. There could be many reasons as well that’s why we need to update our Aadhaar.
Demographic Data Update, The Need Could Arise From:
- Any change in life event like marriage can required residents changing their resident details like name and address, mobile number and email address etc.
- Any Errors like Date of Birth or Gender during enrollment process or any other wrong data of resident captured incorrectly
If anyone is looking to Update Aadhar Details, here is how you can do it.
As per the UIDAI website, there are 3 ways to correct the Aadhaar.
- Update your details online
- Request update by post
- Visit a nearby enrolment center
Aadhaar Details That Can Be Updated Are:
- Demographic information: Name, Address, Date of Birth/Age, Gender, Mobile Number, Email Address, Relationship Status and Information Sharing Consent.
- Biometric information: Iris, Finger Prints and Facial Photograph
Modes of Update: UIDAI update process always accepts PoI (Proof of Identity) and PoA (Proof of Address) documents. View the list of supporting documents.
1. Via Online:
The Self-Service online can only update the address of residents where the resident can update on the portal. The Aadhaar number and registered mobile number of the resident are required to login to the portal. Using OTP on registered mobile number can complete and update that needs to upload the supporting POA documents, which will be verified at UIDAI’s Update back-office by a Verifier.
2. By Visiting Permanent Enrollment Center:
Here residents place the demographic/bio-metric update request can be done with the help of an operator at an Permanent Enrolment Centre. update that needs to upload the supporting documents, which will also be verified at UIDAI’s Update back-office by a Verifier.
A. Update Client Standard
Fields: All biometric/demographic fields and local language can be updated.
Identity Authentication: Biometric check at the back-end too.
Document Verification
- These Verification done for all these fields which require documentary evidence and by verifier appointed by UIDAI/Registrars present at Enrolment / Update Centre.
Form Filling and Acknowledgement
- It is done by the operator on update client as requested by the resident and Handles spelling, language issues, transliteration, etc and provide biometric sign off against every update request, Resident also receive an acknowledgement receipt with Update Request Number (URN) which can be tracked.
B. Update Client Lite (UCL)
Fields: All demographic fields and Photo/Images as well as local language can be updated.
Identity Authentication: Boimetric Authentication of resident.
Document Verification
- These Verification done for all these fields which require documentary evidence and by verifier appointed by UIDAI/Registrars present at Enrolment / Update Centre.
Form Filling and Acknowledgement
- It is done by the operator on update client as requested by the resident. Resident also receive an acknowledgement receipt with Update Request Number (URN) which can be tracked
C. Update Through AUA Point Of Presence
Fields like Demographic fields, Identity Authentication, Document Verification
Form Filling and Acknowledgement
- It is done by Registrar’s Operator on Device with Biometric Authentication Feature Resident gets an acknowledgement receipt with URN.
