शिक्षाविदों और इंडस्ट्री प्रोफेशनल्स ने हमेशा अपने संबंधित क्षेत्रो में अध्ययन और समावेशी ‘अनुसंधान’ करने की आवश्यकता महसूस की है। हालाँकि शोध विषय में पहले से ही बहुत काम किया गया है और विभिन्न अवधारणाओं और उप-अवधारणाओं को छूने वाली दूर की पुस्तकों के रूप में संकलित किया गया है। इसलिए दोनों लेखिकाओं, अनुभा और मनप्रीत का काम अलग है। शोधकर्ताओं के रूप में अपनी सीमित क्षमता के आधार पर, अंतराल को समझने के लिए ये एक विस्तृत समय सीमा में उपलब्ध पाठ्यों के ढेर के माध्यम से पढ़ती हैं। इनकी पुस्तक ‘फंडामेंटल ऑफ रिसर्च,’ प्राथमिक प्रश्नों का उत्तर देने का प्रयास करती हैं और यह मुख्य रूप से अनुसंधान, चिकित्सकों, शिक्षकों और कॉर्पोरेट पेशेवरों के छात्रों के रूप में इनके पहले अनुभव पर आधारित है।

पुस्तक लिखने की प्रेरणा व निहितार्थ:

अनुभा एक IAS (एलाइड सर्विसेज) पिता व एक गृहिणी माँ की पहली संतान हैं, जो अनुभा के लिए नए नए स्थानों पर स्थानांतरित होने वाली जॉब के चलते कई स्थानों पर शिक्षा ग्रहण करने में सहायक हुए, जिससे उन्हें जीवन और लोगों पर एक व्यापक दृष्टिकोण प्राप्त करने में मदद मिली जिनसे उसने कम उम्र से बातचीत की। मनप्रीत अपने प्यार करने वाले पिता और माँ द्वारा बिजनेस क्लास के माहौल में पैदा हुई सबसे छोटी संतान हैं। उन्होंने उन टीमों के साथ काम किया है जो यूपी, पंजाब, गुरुग्राम जैसे विभिन्न स्थानों पर आधारित थीं, और इस तरह उन्होंने बहुसांस्कृतिक काम के माहौल से अवगत कराया।

अनुभा हमेशा से शोध में लगी हुई थी और अपने डॉक्टोरल शोधों के दौरान जो कि “फॉलोअर्सशिप” पर केंद्रित थी, सही उपकरण, माप का उपयोग करते हुए, उत्तर खोजने की अत्यावश्यकता ने उसे इस विषय से मोह भंग करा दिया। इसलिए, एक उपलब्ध अवसर का पता लगाने और समझने के लिए और इस विचार को बनाए रखने के लिए, उन्होंने अपनी प्रिय मित्र मनप्रीत (जो वर्तमान में शोध छात्रा भी हैं) से संपर्क किया और इन दोनों ने 2019 के सर्दियों के महीनों में पुस्तक लिखने की अपनी यात्रा शुरू की।

एक वर्ष की स्पष्ट समयावधि को सेट करने से पहले ये दोनों लेखिका, इकाई प्रगति द्वारा अध्याय और इकाई के संदर्भ में निर्धारित इनके मील के पत्थर के साथ आगे बढ़ गयीं।

सटीक और स्पष्ट उद्देश्य:

(i) अनुशासन के बावजूद उपयुक्त कार्यप्रणाली की स्पष्ट समझ विकसित करना और

(ii) अलग-अलग शोध विधियों और तकनीकों के उपयोग के बारे में यथार्थवादी संदर्भ के साथ सम्बंधित संदर्भ के लिए बताना।

अपनी व्यस्तताओं के साथ आगे बढ़ना और किताब पर काम को संतुलित करते हुए, जब तक एक मंच पर आने पर दुनिया ने एक झटके से ध्यान नहीं दिया, तब तक उस रास्ते पर चलते रहे। COVID-19, घबराहट के दौरे, अवसादग्रस्तता के विचार, चिंता, और असुरक्षा की भावनाएँ कुछ ऐसी ही भावनाएँ थीं जिनसे ये लोग गुज़रे थे, और इन सबके बीच अंधेरे के दिनों को खींचने के लिए सकारात्मकता की चाँदी की परत को देखना अनिवार्य हो गया।

मार्च 19, 2020, प्रकोप, लॉकडाउन और जनता कर्फ्यू की वजह से COVID-19 महामारी ने व्यक्तिगत, पेशेवर और सामाजिक मोर्चों पर अत्यधिक अनिश्चितता की प्राप्ति को बढ़ा दिया। कोई भी अनुसंधान यह अनुमान नहीं लगा सकता है कि यह कब तक और कितना नुकसान पहुंचा सकता है।

इन लोगों को सकारात्मक रहना था और चीजों के बेहतर होने की प्रतीक्षा करनी और यही जो एक प्रबल विचार था जो संगरोध की उदासीनता का उपयोग करके पाठकों के लिए नए दृष्टिकोण को सामने लाने और छह सप्ताह के राष्ट्रव्यापी लॉकडाउन का उपयोग करने के लिए था। जैसा कि एक बाधा के रूप में देखा गया था, हालाँकि इन दोनों ने एक संकल्प लिया, क्योंकि इन्हे अपनी पुस्तक में, अपनी जगह पर, गति में काम करते हुए ‘घर से एक सच्चे’ काम के कठिन कार्य को लिया। इसके बाद फोन कॉल की एक श्रृंखला थी, Google Meet, ज़ूम और स्काइप सेशन, किसी भी मदद से रहित घर के चारों ओर चलने वाले कार्यों के बीच-बीच में इन सब को भी स्थान दिया जाता। कार्य-जीवन संतुलन की सच्ची तस्वीर जो ये ‘किचन से लेकर लैपटॉप’ तक पहुंचतीं और घर के दैनिक कामों से लेकर किताबों के चारों ओर अध्यायों तक में उलझी हुई थीं। जैसा कि इनके प्रयासों से सुबह की रोशनी दिखाई देती है, और ये अंततः अपनी पुस्तक प्रस्तुत करने के लिए तैयार हैं। इस बिंदु पर, इस विषय पर कई मौजूदा पाठों के लिए उचित श्रेय का विस्तार करना चाहती हैं जो विषय के साथ-साथ सहायक विचारधारा को देखते हैं और बनाते हैं। इन्हे संदर्भ में अपने जोड़े गए आयाम के साथ कई का संकलन प्रस्तुत करने हैं।

Authors who simplified the use of research methods and techniques during lockdown in their book ‘Fundamental of Research‘

Academicians & industry professionals have always felt the need to study & incorporate ‘Research’ in their respective domains. Although much work has been done already in research subject and compiled in the form of far-ranging books touching a variety of concepts & sub-concepts. So, Anubhaa and Manpreet work is different. As researchers in this limited capacity, they read through a plethora of texts available over a stretched time frame in order to understand the gaps. Book ‘Fundamentals of Research,’ attempts to answer elementary queries and is primarily based on first-hand experience as students of research, practitioners, teachers, and corporate professionals.

Inspiration to writing this book:

Anubhaa is the first child of a father (IAS officer Allied Services) with mother (homemaker), who was in a highly transferrable job translated in Anubhaa changing residence and taking up education at numerous places, helped her acquire a broad outlook on life and people she interacted with since an early age.

Manpreet is the youngest child grown in business class environment by her loving father and mother. She has worked with teams who were based in various locations like UP, Punjab, Gurugram, and thus exposed her to a multicultural work environment.

Anubhaa had always been engaged in research and during her Doctoral researches which focussed on “Followership”, the urgency of finding answers, using the right instruments, measurements, left her struck by the stretch of this subject. Hence, an opportunity existed to explore & understand, and to keep up this thought, she contacted her dear friend manpreet (who is also research student presently) and we both started our journey of writing book in the winter months of 2019.

Setting before up a clear timeline of a year, they moved ahead with their milestones prescribed in terms of the chapter and unit by unit advancement.

The precise and clear objectives were:

• developing a clear understanding of appropriate methodology irrespective of discipline and
• Explaining the usage of different research methods and techniques with realistic scenarios for a relatable context.

Continuing with our engagements at hand and balancing the work on the book, we treated upon the path taken until we came to a stage the world noticed a jolt. Lockdown, COVID-19, , Panic attacks, depressive thoughts, anxiety, and insecurity were just some of the feelings we all went through, and amidst all, it became imperative to look upon the silver lining of positivity to pull through the dark days.

March 19th, 2020, outbreak, lockdown, and Janta curfew because of the COVID-19 pandemic aggravated the realization of extreme uncertainty on personal, professional & social fronts. None could predict how long and how much more damage it may bring to all.

What authors did for this book, read their words: We had to be positive and wait for things to get better, and that is when what prevailed was a thought to utilize the gloom of quarantine to bring forth a new set of perspectives to the readers and utilize the six weeks of nationwide lockdown. What seemed an obstacle, however reshaped into  a resolve as we took on the  tough task of a true ‘work from home’ on our book, working in pace, while at our own place. What followed was a series of phone calls, Google meets, Zoom & Skype sessions, spaced in-between by running tasks around the house devoid of any helps. The true picture of the work-life balance emerging as we juggled to and fro from ‘Kitchen to Laptop’ & from daily chores of house, to chapters around the book. As our efforts see the morning light, and we are finally ready to present our book. At this point, we also would like to extend due credit to multiple existing texts on the subject that have been looked at and form the supporting ideology along with the subject. We present a compilation of many along with our added dimension to the context.
